Distinguished leaders, teachers and dear students, good morning! Today my topic is “Erudition, Rectitude and Harmony, make ourselves civilized byrers”.
Erudition, Rectitude and Harmony is our school’s motto. In my opinion, each of our leaders, teachers and students should review the meaning of the motto at the beginning of each term and consider it as our standard and goal. Our teachers and students should regard it as the direction of teaching and learning.
Erudition is not only the requirement for knowledge but also the basis of our students to form overall qualities. Rectitude not only means being elegant but also has the meaning of norm. Harmony doesn’t mean being harmonious and unprincipled. It means to create a united atmosphere on the fundament of obeying the rules.
Only after we have the correct understanding and take the consistent action, can we reach the perfect state and every corner in the school will be brimming with civilization.
To make ourselves civilized byrers, you can start with greeting others actively. No matter he or she is our teacher or a visitor; no matter he or she is school welfare officer or a waitress in canteen; no matter he or she is an upperclassman or a lower classman, just greet them a “Hello” to merge you two even you two are strangers. A smile on your face can show others your personal quality.
To make ourselves civilized byrers, we can start with cleaning the environment around us. We will live and study more comfortable if the windows of our classrooms are bright and no rubbish on the roads. The campus will be more beautiful if there is no rubbish. The most important thing of Moral Education Department need to implement in this term is garbage classification. The thorough cleanup must be done on each Tuesday. Student Union and Moral Education Department will check class by class and announce the score of each class. What’s more, Student Union will patrol the campus. When they find you throw the rubbish everywhere, you will be given a punishment to clean up an certain area for a whole term. Actually, some of our students has already been aware of garbage classification and resource utilization. Four students of International Department, Toby Lee, Oscar Leung, Annie Lee and Ricarton Lee, are so active to take part in scientific research. They start out small and pay a lot of attention to garbage classification. They also set up Guangzhou Foreign Language School the Recycling of the Waste Glass Research Group’ in 2015 and hope to extend the recycling of waste glass with their research production.
To make ourselves civilized byrers, you can start with obeying the rules of class and school. In fact, it’s the basic requirement of rectitude, especially to obey the regulation of managing the mobile phones and not ordering takeouts. Managing the mobile phone is not to insulate our students from the cyberspace, We just want to help you use your time properly on your study. My fellow students, the internet will sharply develop in 30 years and all sorts of information and convenience will go with it. When you face a world with a lot of information and temptations, what’s your biggest competitive power? In my opinion, that’s your concentration on the thing you need to do which will be the least resource in the future. Therefore, please obey the regulation of managing the mobile phones of school and train the concentration together.
It’s also a baseline of school that you are forbidden to order takeouts. Some students do not care about their own eating safety which must be cared by school. Maybe some students or parents will say if it causes any problem they will take responsibility by themselves. That’s ridiculous because Education Department has already endued this holy mission which is to protect each student’s safety to each school, whatever it’s a public school or a private school. No matter how the parents and students make their promise, once the accident happen, the school must undertake the duty of management. Therefore, please say ‘Farewell’ to your spoiled taste and make the requirements of the system as your own habits. If you are against these two rules, you will be persuaded to resign from our school. The school will also treat the phenomenon of ordering takeouts in a severe attitude. Student Union, Moral Education Department and the security of school will take the action unitedly and the offender won’t get away from punishment.
To make ourselves civilized byrers is not a slogan. It should be internalized as some concrete actions. Just start out small and insist on it for a whole term to form an excellent habit, and then you can be a civilized byrer and GZFLS must be Erudition, Rectitude and Harmony.
That’s all, thanks for your listening.
