尊敬的各位领导、老师，亲爱的同学们，大家早上好！今天我讲话的题目是《科技和人文齐飞》。

Distinguished leaders, teachers and dearstudents, good morning. My topic today is “technology and humanity developtogether”.

亲爱的同学们，我们生活在一个高科技的时代，高科技已融入生活学习的方方面面，尤其是网络技术的风行对于我们的生活有着颠覆性的影响。在高科技时代，我们觉得仿佛失去了过去的那种诗意的东西，其实不然。高科技和传统文化是互相促进、并行不悖的。

We live in the age of high-technology, whichhas been involved in every aspect of our life. With the popularity of network,our life has opened up a new chapter, in which we may feel we have lost theflavor of poetry. On the contrary, high-technology and traditional culture aremutually developing.

当你坐在高速飞驰的动车里，看着窗外飞逝的景物，善感的你也许会想到“乘奔御风，泠然善也”的古语；当你用手机或者电脑和远隔重洋的朋友联系的时候，联想丰富的你一定会觉得高科技实现了古人说的“千里传音”的神奇功能；当你乘坐飞机在云端穿行的时候，心灵充实的你也许会想到“大鹏一日乘风起，扶摇直上九万里”的诗句；当你用高清相机拍摄一朵花的时候，具有审美眼光的你可能会想到“一粒沙里看一个世界，一朵花里看一个天堂”句子……

When you travel in an express at a highspeed, you will think of the Chinese poem Running the wind happily. When youuse your cellphone and computer to connect your friends on the other side ofthe world, you will believe that technology has realized the ancient dream ofsending the sound thousands of miles away. When you fly in the clouds, you willremember the poem by Libai, that is, one day, a roc will rise directly toninety thousand with the wind like a plane. When you take pictures of a flowerwith the high-digital camera, you may see a world in a grain of sand, and aheaven in a wild flower.

就像罗丹说的那样“生活中不是缺少美，而是缺少发现的眼睛”，如果您仔细观察，高科技现实下的诗意是非常浓厚的，所以我们要“去除糟粕，吸取精华”，充分看到高科技的优点和长处，培养自己的科学素养。

Rodin, a French sculptor, said, “Life is nota lack of beauty, but we lack the eyes to find the beauty.” With your carefulobservation, you will find that the flavor of poetry is still there nowadays.What we have to do is just to remove the dross and absorb the essence. Weshould take the advantage of technology to cultivate our scientific literacy.

2015年的两会，李克强总理在政府工作报告里十六次提到了“科技”这个词语，并大力提倡科技创新，这个也应该成为我们广外校学子的一个目标，在这个方面努力提升素养，创造出自己的专利产品，为我们的科技特色学校增光添彩。

In the Report on the Work of the Governmentdelivered at the second session of the twelfth National People’s Congress,Premier Li Keqiang mentioned the word “technology” sixteen times and pursuedtechnology innovation projects. As a student in GZFLS, we should also take itas one of our goals to invent our own patented products, adding lustre to thetechnological innovation characteristics of our school.

这绝对不是一个遥不可及的目标，我校科技社团在邹勇飞、叶卫展等老师的带领下，参加省市科技比赛，多次获奖；2014届高三AP班的秦梓源同学就有自己的两项专利——可以边看书边压腿的学习健身桌和旅行用的便携盛水容器。

It is not unreachable. With the help ofteachers, Zou Yongfei and Ye Weizhan, the Science and Technology Associationhas competed in many provincial and municipal competition and many awards. QinZiyuan, a student from 2014 AP class of our school has two patents. One is astudent desk, with which you can stretch while reading, the other is a portablewater container to be used when you travel.

科技素养固然重要，但是人文素养也不可缺少，应该是科学和人文齐飞，科技和阅读携手。人文素养是指 “人文科学的研究能力、知识水平和人文科学体现出来的以人为对象、以人为中心的精神――人的内在品质”。

Besides technological literacy, humanity isalso important. Technology and humanity can develop together. Humanity refersto the research ability, the knowledge level and the inner quality of a person,which is also a human-centred spirit.

阅读是培养人文素养的主要方法之一，通过既有深度又有广度的阅读，培养道德情操和雅正、融和的品质，为科技的前进安上导航仪和指南针。从而让科技很好地为人服务，而人绝对不能成为科技的奴隶。例如手机和电子产品的使用，我们就要有节制，不能成为“手机控”或“低头族”。

Reading is one of the best ways to cultivate one’s humanity. Reading widelycan enhance our morality and the quality of rectitude and harmony and alsonavigate the development of technology. In this case, technology serves people,but not the other way around, which means we should restrain our use ofcellphones and other electronic devices, and not be a phone freak or aphubbing.

同学们，从本周起，我校的科技读书节就正式拉开了帷幕，此次科技读书节的主题是“悦读、创新、成长。”“悦读”一语双关，既是指博览群书，也是指快乐的阅读，从阅读中获得更多的快乐。

Dear students, from this week on, our Technologyand Reading Festival starts. The theme of it is Reading, Innovation and Growth. Readdifferent books and enjoy it.

阅读是精神成长和文化传承的重要途径，李克强总理在讲话中特别强调：“提供更多优秀文艺作品，倡导全民阅读，建设书香社会。”这是有一定的背景的，从全民的阅读量来说，中国人均阅读量达不到某些国家的十分之一，这个数据令我们汗颜。文化是民族的精神命脉和创造源泉，而文化的传承途径之一就是阅读。

Premier Li Keqiang emphasized in his speechthat “We will continue to deepen reform of the cultural sector. We will developculture and arts the press and publishing and radio, TV and film. We willencourage all our people to read.” We feel deeply concerned that the averageper capita amount of reading in Chinais only about one-tenth of that some other countries in the world. Books andreading have been essential in carrying forward human civilizations.

李克强总理在答记者问的时候说：“用闲暇时间来阅读是一种享受，也是拥有财富，可以说终身受益。我希望全民阅读能够形成一种氛围，无处不在。……把阅读作为一种生活方式，把它与工作方式相结合，不仅会增加发展的创新力量，而且会增强社会的道德力量。这也就是为什么我两次愿意把“全民阅读”这几个字写入《政府工作报告》的原因。”

When Premier Li Keqiang is answering thejournalists’ questions, he said, “Readingis what I enjoy most in my spare time. It makes me feel wealthy and reading hasbeen the most rewarding experience in my life. I hope that all our people canfoster a life of reading. I hope that more people can make reading a kind ofway of life, and also find it is very useful in one’s own work. Reading can furtherunlock the potential for innovation in our development and boost and enhancecivic morality. That is why I have for two years running written this in to thegovernment work report.”

从这里可以看出“全民阅读”是一个国家的战略，我们一定要好好利用这次的科技读书节，推动我校师生的阅读热潮，而且使之成为一种常态。

Reading among all the people has been a national strategy, we should makegood use of this festival to lift an upsurge in reading among teachers andstudents and gradually make it part of our daily life.

此次科技读书节，我们设计了多个富有趣味性、知识性的活动，有科技制作创新活动、科学幻想绘画比赛、科技模型竞赛、团委的一站到底活动、阅读征文等，最后还有一个科技读书节的展示活动，到时候深圳外校、广外外校的领导和老师代表也会来参与我们的活动，所以希望广大师生大力支持，积极参与。

We have designed varieties of interestingand intellectual activities for this festival, including TechnologicalInnovation Activity, Science Fiction Painting Competition, Model MakingCompetition, Who’s still standing, Essay Contest, ect. At the end of thefestival, we will have an exhibition for all the winners. Leaders and teachersfrom both Shenzhen Foreign Languages School and English SchoolAttached to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies will come to visit ourfestival. We hope teachers and students can support and participate actively.

要想使学生心灵成长、灵魂发育，为学生的可持续发展奠定良好的基础，科技读书节也是一种很好的形式，这和教学的要求、成绩的目标不冲突。

Technology and Reading Festival isbeneficial to students’ spiritual growth and can also lay a good foundation foryour sustainable development, which is also required by our education.
